A wee question

So, I don't have a photo, which would be good for anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about but I want just to say how everywhere I've been here in good ol' Oz, one can find those horrible 'golliwog' dolls. You know the ones, don't you? The racist caricature from the Noddy books. No one here is even slightly put off by them.

I find them offensive, and disgusting.

What's your opinion?

  1. I LOVE rag dolls, but I do find those a bit replusive. I have a "black" rag doll from Mexico that does not look like that, so really the makers can not blame the limited things you can do with a rag doll for the way it looks. I know they are a part of history, but like those "Mammy" cookie jars, I don't want one

  2. I know exactly the dolls of which you speak.
Makes me ashamed of my British heritage.
My ex-husband {from England} had one of those dolls and his Mum thought there was nowt wrong with 'em. Horrible.

  3. Thank you, both! Your comments are hartening, and remind me that racism isn't actually the norm, nor is it supposed to be.
