The Queen of , as I've dubbed her, Dirty Rhythm and Blues has died today. She was only 73.
She gave the world not just beautiful songs, like "Sunday Kind of Love" 'Trust in Me", and of course, "At Last", she gave us her ill voice. She remade RnB/gospel music; she turned into something raw, untamed and amazing.
Sigh, I did a Facebook post on her too. I fell in love with her voice as a 10 yr old singing along to "I'd rather go blind" and "All I could do was cry" and I never stopped loving her. I have more Etta James CD's than any other artist I think. All I could do was cry when I heard the news...
